Application Requirements

Covid-19 Update

The Koç University Graduate Schools are aware of the current barriers faced by some international applicants to provide a valid GRE and TOEFL test score reports due to test cancellations.ETS has announced on 03.04.2020 that at-home TOEFL and GRE test options are now available worldwide (except for China and Iran). These solutions are now available everywhere the computer-delivered TOEFL iBT test and GRE General Test are normally available, with the exception of Mainland China and Iran. In Mainland China, ETS is working closely with NEEA to accommodate test-takers impacted by test cancellations, including adding test dates once regular testing resumes. ETS is working to offer at-home testing in Iran as soon as possible.

You should register for the next available GRE and TOEFL test date available in your country and indicate the date on the online application form in the “Test scores“ and “Language scores“ section respectively.

All candidates will still be evaluated on the basis of all the other application documents (Statement of Purpose, Recommendation letters, Publications, CV, others) and may issue conditional admissions to selected candidates.

In order to enroll as a new student in the Fall 2020 semester, candidates that will be offered a conditional admission should provide before or during the enrollment period official GRE and TOEFL test score reports as specified in the conditional admission letter.

Application Procedure for PhD and MSc with Thesis Programs

Items listed below are only for applicant’s information.
All the applicants should apply through ONLINE APPLICATION PROGRAM.  

  1. Personal and Educational Background Information (CV)
  2. Recommendation Letters (2 for MSc, 3 for Ph.D) (3 for MS in Molecular Biology and Genetics)
  3. TOEFL or YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL Requirement (for those whose native language is not English)
    – TOEFL Internet Based: Minimum Score 80 (Exams taken in Türkiye must be carried out at the State Universities.)
    – YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL: 80
  4. ALES scores
  5. GRE scores (required from Foreign students; optional for Turkish students)
  6. Official transcripts from all the universities attended
  7. Statement of Purpose

 

Application Procedure for Non-Thesis Programs

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Items listed below are only for applicant’s information.
All the applicants should apply through ONLINE APPLICATION PROGRAM.

2023 FALL APPLICATIONS EVALUATION START DATE: JUNE 04, 2023

Application Evaluation and Decision Announcement: 

Please note that all MS/Ph.D. applications submitted for all graduate programs under the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering are evaluated soon after the above date and applicants will be notified of final admission decisions within 4-6 weeks after the evaluation start date.

All the applications after this date will be continued to be considered and evaluated until all available graduate student positions have been filled.

Interview:
All programs conduct interviews with promising candidates.

Online Application

Before starting your online application make sure you have the following documents:

  • Resume / CV
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Official transcripts from all the universities attended
  • English language proficiency test results (TOEFL or YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL)
  • GRE test scores
  • ALES (for Turkish applicants)

Other documentation may also be required. Please make sure you check the application requirements website.

 

 Important things to remember!

  • There is no need for a separate scholarship application. You only need to apply to the program(s) of your choice.
  • The application process is free. There is no application fee.
  • It is important to scan your documents before starting the online application.
  • You will also be able to upload any additional documents required to process your application after you have submitted it online.
  • If there are any technical problems with your application you can always sent an email to gsse@ku.edu.tr missing documents or information.

Registration Process

Documents needed for registration

  • University Diploma (Please kindly bring the original diploma’s with you from your Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D studies.)
  • Transcript (from all the Universities previously attented)
  • Copy of Passport or Turkish National ID
  • 2 Bio-metric Photographs with white background. Your name should be printed at the back side of each photos.
  • Military Status Certificate for all Turkish citizen male students
  • ALES / GRE Score
  • TOEFL IBT, YDS/e-YDS or YÖKDİL Score (If you are a native speaker of English please ignore this requirement)
